Kenya: Medo to Return to Mt. Kenya After Leaving Sofapaka

17 January 2019

Sacked Sofapaka coach Medo Melis is set to return to the SportPesa Premier League struggling side Mount Kenya United, Nation Sport understands.

The Egyptian-born American watched from the stands as his former side went down 4-1 to champions Gor Mahia at Kasarani stadium on Wednesday. He was seen having animated conversation with some of the team's senior players before having a lengthy chat with members of the team's leadership group outside the stadium.

"He will return for sure, he did great work while here and knows how best to produce results with these team," a source from the club told Nation Sport.

"What the team is missing now is an authoritative leader and he is the kind of person who can do this," the source added.

Anthony Mwangi has been in the charge of the side that has managed just two draws with six defeats. They sit bottom of the 18-team log on two points.

Former Gor Mahia left back Chris Wekesa issued instructions from the touchline the entire match.
