Sudan: Guterres - Sudan's Peace Initiatives Deserve Appreciation

Addis Ababa — President of the Republic, Field Marshal Ome r Al-Bashir discussed at the Sheraton Hotel in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on the sideline of the 32nd Ordinary Summit of the African Union with thw Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Manuel Guterres, initiatives of Sudan for achieving peace in South Sudan and Central Africa Republic(CAR), where Mr.Guterres has described them as one of the bright spots in Africa and exceptional efforts that deserve commendation.

In a press statement after the meeting, Foreign Minister , Dr. Al Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed explained that Mr. Guterres affirmed the international Organization support to Sudan efforts and that its support would continue until the peace agreement in CAR is implemented.

Al Dirdiri added that Mr. Guterres affirmed to the President of the Republic that UN. will exert its utmost efforts to support the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan State, praising the joint efforts of President , Omer Al-Bashir and Yoweri Museveni in this connection.

The Minister said the meeting also tackled issues of peace and security in the region. sn/ab
