Nigeria: Davido Voices Out His Take On Politics

World famous afrobeat artiste, Davido has recently been very vocal about his political views on and off social media.

The Platinum recording artiste had his first actual involvement in Nigerian politics when he campaigned for his uncle Ademola Adeleke who contested for the gubernatorial election of Osun State in 2018 under the people's democratic party (PDP).

Davido took to his twitter to clarify multiple assumptions and also serve warnings to the youth regarding supposed plans of the government to lock up the youth and thus create a panic that will prevent them from coming out to vote.

" They are planning to start arresting Youths as from next week for no reason be careful my people they know they are going to lose and they have a plan like always let's stick together and let's all be careful on these streets !! #DEFENDYOURVOTE"

He also clarified the popular assumption that he was a PDP member because he campaigned for his uncle under the umbrella of the party, explaining that he is "not a party man" and he simply supports whichever candidates he feels can deliver regardless of the party . He tweeted;

"I am not a party man ... I supported my Blood Uncle under (PDP) I am supporting @BankyW under House of rep Federal (MDP) Mr jollof House of rep (AAC) Dapo Abiodun Governorship candidate (APC) Shinna peller Oyo House of rep (APC) and Atiku Abubakar Presidential (PDP) ... #Defend"

During his series of tweets he equally informed his millions of fans that he had received "a lot of threats" but he is unshaken in his resolve and would continue to speak and pursue his truth. He also urged Nigerians to be aware of their power as voters using the hashtag "DEFEND YOUR VOTE", pointing out that the days of "killing, threatening and kidnapping" because an individual is "speaking the truth" is coming to an end.

"We have the power not them !! They know this but they don't want 'US' to know !! All that killing , threatening and kidnapping shit because some one is speaking the truth ENDS NOW !!!"

The artiste has also used the opportunity to somewhat hint at a possible governorship ambition that he's nurturing responding to a question asked by a fan he said;

"when I become governor I'll explain"

He was most recently spotted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar's rally where pictures and videos of him at the event have been making rounds online.
