Botswana: GCC Cautions Public About Fraudsters

Gaborone — Gaborone City Council (GCC) informs the public that there are fraudsters masquerading as its employees.

A press release from GCC says the fraudsters present themselves as senior adjudication secretaries, consultants, attorneys and environmental health officers.

It says the public is further notified that GCC is aware of a false tender for refurbishing a certain quarry called Khudiring Quarry located in Mogoditshane.

The release says GCC has never and will never float any tender for the refurbishment of Khudiring Quarry as it has no link with it.

It says all GCC tenders and procurements are advertised in the government gazette so that business operators could check all its advertisements for tenders in it for verification and confirmation.

The press release further states that members of the public who have been swindled of cash on the above tender, are advised to come forth and assist GCC in finding the above mentioned or report to the nearest police station.

For further clarification members of the public can contact GCC Public Relations Office at 365-7408, 365-7545 or toll free 0800600061.
