Luanda — The top five winners of each category of the Luanda Carnival received their awards and diplomas Saturday during a ceremony held at the African League Cultural Centre.

2nd placed group receives check from state secretary for culture
Received the prizes União Recreativo Kilamba, who retained the title of the champion of Luanda Carnival, with 912 points in class A, received AKz 3 million.
The second and third placed União Mundo da Ilha and União Njinga Mbandi, respectively, received AKz 2 million and AKz 1.2 million.
For class B (adults) the winner União 17 de Setembro received 1.5 million kwanzas, while the second and third placed groups, União Domant and União Café de Angola, received an amount of 1 million kwanzas and 600,000 kwanzas respectively.
In the Children class, the first ranked Cassule Viveiro Njinga a Mbande received AKz 1 million, Cassules Jovens da Cacimba AKz 700,000, and Cassules Sagrada Esperança 500,000, respectively.
Addressing the ceremony, the governor of Luanda province, Sérgio Rescova, said that in addition to the amounts awarded as prizes, the winners will receive as bonus an amount of AKz 1 million, while the second to fifth placed of class A, B and children would get 500,000 kwanzas.
An amount of 1.millionon was also attributed to the carnival group Recreativo do Kilamba, as song award sponsorship by African Investment Bank.
União Kazukuta do Sambizanga and Cassules Jovens da Cacimba received 500,000 and 250,000, respectively.
