South Africa: Police Probe Fatal Shooting Inside a Taxi in Kwanobuhle

Police seek assistance of the public in solving a shooting incident that claimed a life of a man after an alleged point-blank shooting inside a taxi in Kwanobuhle, Uitenhage yesterday.

On Tuesday, 12 March 2019 around 19:00, it is alleged that a green Mazda hatchback operating as a taxi with several passengers inside, the driver stopped at Lawrence Vinqi Road, Kwanobuhle to let one of the passengers out of the vehicle, a blue Volkswagen Polo pulled in front of them. An unknown man armed with a firearm got out of the Polo and walked towards the taxi and fatally shot one of the passengers that was sitting at the back next to the window. The suspect then got back into the Polo and drove off. The deceased, Mamiya Ntshanyana (20), died at the scene. At this stage the motive for the murder is unknown, and the police are investigating all possibilities.
