Nigeria: Inconclusive Polls - Osinbajo Meets Govs Bindo, Abubakar At State House

Abuja — Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, met behind closed doors with Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State and his Adamawa State counterpart, Governor Jibrila Bindo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The two governors, who met the vice president separately are seeking re-election on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, and were trailing behind their Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, opponents before the results of election were declared inconclusive.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared elections in six states of Benue, Adamawa, Sokoto, Bauchi, Plateau and Kano inconclusive.

INEC had explained that the number of canceled votes were higher than the figure the leading candidate has against the opponent.

The meeting came barely three days after seven APC governors also met behind the camera with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House.

The agenda of the meeting between the vice president and Adamawa and Bauchi State governors was not made public and the governors declined to speak to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting.

It was gathered that the two governors had earlier sought to see President Buhari but met a brick wall, as the president was said to be indisposed to seeing them.

Thereafter, they proceeded to the vice president's wing to see him and emerged separately from the closed door, which lasted over one hour.
