Liberia: Gobet231 Presence Scares Competitors

It has reliably been gathered that competitors within the gaming industry particularly the sports betting sector are becoming very uneasy since the arrival of multimillion-dollar company (GoBet231) in the country.

Since the company's triumphant entry into the country, rival companies have begun employing all sorts of scare tactics in the form of smear campaigns against the company.

They have been using paid agents to write negative stories about the company, providing misleading information to the Liberia National Lotteries about the products being offered by GoBet 231 and even going as far as complaining that the company does not have license for some of the products it offers at its modern shops branded around the city.

When some officials of the Company were contacted to confirm this information, they were not interested in the unnecessary smear campaign by their competitors but were rather interested in the benefits of a healthy competition within the gaming industry to customers.

According to one official, the aim of the company coming to Liberia is to support the pro-poor agenda of the Liberian Government to help provide employment opportunities, which will help lift Liberians from poverty.

When our investigators visited some of GoBet shops around the city to speak to customers and why they were leaving competitor companies, their responses were a lot similar-"GoBet t231 odds are better than any other betting company in the gaming industry in Liberia, their shops are nicely done with AC rooms, they have both USD and LRD betting options, their staffs are nicely dressed and polite and it's a one stop shop for all betting products with more than five different gaming products being offered"-.

Most importantly, customers who win get instant payment from the company at any of their locations without having to come to their head office.

This is said to be a serious challenge to their competitors who are finding it difficult to pay winners instantly.

Our investigators further gathered that rival companies have reportedly paid agents' huge sums of money to publish negative stories against the company and attacked the company at all fronts.

We recently gathered that competitors pressured lottery officials from the National Lottery Authority (NLA) that GoBet231 doesn't have slots license to operate machines in the country.

Our investigators pictured officials of the NLA leaving a Gobet Shop on Gurley Street after threatening to close down their slot machines.

But it can be recalled that the head of the Liberia National Lottery (LNA), Martin Kollie told journalists that GoBet231 has met up with all its obligations in keeping with the laws of Liberia.

"GoBet231 was licensed by the board of the LNA. It is in complete compliance," he said.

His clarification was in reference to series of articles carried in some media outlets against Gobet231 that it was operating illegally in the country.

"It's true GoBet231 license is for sport betting, but what they don't know is that GoBet231 is working along with Mainline Incorporated that has been operating in Liberia for years and has the license to operate slot machines," one official of Mainline told this paper in Monrovia recently.

According to this official, they undertake their own rental, personnel and license cost though they partner with GoBet to enable customers of the game have a ONE STOP SHOP for all gaming products.

Despite these attacks from competitors at all fronts, GoBet231 says it remains committed to the plights of the Liberian people and has since promised to employ more Liberians in the betting industry in the country.

Already, the company has invested over US$5million in the Liberian economy in its first three months, this, according to the company covers equipment, infrastructure, training, personnel cost, etc. More than three hundred Liberians have already been employed by GoBet231.

The company is contemplating on moving into the 15 political subdivisions with an expected investment of US$50million in the next five years.

GoBet231 is said to be owned by Palm Spring gaming and it is believed to be the largest investment in the betting industry at this time under the current administration.

Some officials of the company told this paper that they are also working on plans to commence manufacturing with various machines related to the game in Liberia and later start to shape to other parts of Africa.

The company is becoming a household name as betting lovers are now discussing in every corner in the city.

GoBet231 is said to be in business relationship with Novamatic, Amatic Playtech-BGT and their combined turnover is said to be US$20billion annually.

Already Liberia has two betting companies, Winners and Doxxbet with large part of their activities based in Monrovia, but with the coming in of GoBet231, Liberians are optimistic of the company taking over the industry.
