Nigeria: Group Hails Akwa Ibom Gov's Re-election

A non-governmental organization 1001+ Voices Initiative for People Empowerment (1001+ Voices), has congratulated the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, on his reelection as governor.

The group said the governor's reelection was a clear and passionate indication of the people's appreciation of his governance style.

National Coordinator of the group, Obong Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, in a statement, described Governor Emmanuel's reelection as "a testimony of God's divine project."

Owodiong-Idemeko urged the overnor to champion the cause of bequeathing an economically stable and industrialised Akwa Ibom State to the people, adding that his reelection has come at the right time necessary to reposition and build on the fortunes of PDP in the south-south region.

He encouraged Governor Emmanuel to be very public minded in his renewed term by creating and implementing policies that would raise and place Akwa Ibom State on the required paths of growth and sustainable development.

"The re-elected governor should be dead-set on executing robust public policies as would rejuvenate the state's economy and buoy up the social well-being of her citizens", he stressed.

He noted that the renewed mandate that should guide Emmanuel to push for new vistas in governance delivery, rested on a renewed commitment to meeting the salient ideals and vision of the state. He added that this would be realised under the guided provision of more robust economic and social programmes.

The national coordinator also congratulated all members-elect of the national and state assemblies on their presentation with Certificate of Return by INEC and reiterated the NGO's readiness as a global pro-democracy organisation to work in continuous support and solidarity with the reelected government.
