The African Legal Support Facility (ALSF), hosted by the African Development Bank, has been named the official partner of the seventh Utility CEOs Forum in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Forum opened this week on the side-lines of Africa Utility Week. It entailed closed-door meetings, facilitated under Chatham House Rules. It was designed to foster dialogue through confidentiality and trust, enabling the utility heads to address pertinent industry challenges.

The ALSF will be leading discussions on the pressures of foreign currency and exchange control and local content in project development.

The event provides an exclusive environment for knowledge sharing, unrestrained dialogue on sensitive issues and insight into market trends. It also fosters relationship building among the CEOs, which is essential for regional integration, and will help them to develop solutions to common financial constraints.

Utilities play a pivotal role in the bankability of power projects and in assessing risk for the government.

The ALSF recognizes the partnership in line with its strive to build ties and facilitate financial closure of projects undertaken by the utilities with minimal cancellations.
