South Africa: Two Suspects Detained for Serious Crimes in Paarl

While patrolling in Lichtenburg Road in Durbanville during the early hours of this morning, a suspicious white Ford bakkie drew the attention of alert Durbanville police members. The driver of the bakkie refused to stop after he was instructed to do so and following a high speed pursuit the vehicle was halted close to the R44.

Two suspects managed to evade their arrest by fleeing on foot, while two suspects aged 24 and 32 were arrested. Further investigation discovered that the same vehicle was spotted on three recent crime scenes in the Paarl area.

The two suspects are detained for theft out of motor vehicle, burglary and house robbery which was perpetrated on a farm. All these crimes were committed during last month. Pangas and balaclava caps were also found in the bakkie. The suspects are expected to make their court appearance on Monday.
