Kenya: Two Dead, 11 Injured in Separate Road Accidents in Machakos and Kitui

Machakos — Two people perished early Thursday following to road separate road accidents in Machakos and Kitui.

The accident in Machakos occurred near Yatta prison along the Thika-Garrisa highway after a saloon car crashed into a bus.

Yatta police boss Joseph Karanja said preliminary investigations suggested the driver of the saloon car was attempting to overtake when his car collided with a speeding bus.

He said the driver died on spot as the impact was so "strong and hard".

The body has since been moved to Matuu Hospital Mortuary with the incident recorded at the Kithimani police station.

In Kitui one person died and eleven injured after a pickup truck they were travelling in lost control and rolled multiple, according to witness accounts, times at Kiongwe area along Kitui - Zombe road.

Nzambani police boss Joseph Obulo said the twelve were caterers headed to Miambani Catholic Church for an event.

The injured are receiving treatment at Kitui Level IV Hospital.
