Ghana: Achampong-Kyei Marks 70th Birthday With Donations to Dzorwulu Special School

The Executive Director of Glico Group of Companies, Mr Andrew Kwame Achampong-Kyei on Tuesday donated food items and cash to the Dzowulu Special School, as part of activities to celebrate his 70th birthday.

The gesture, according to Mr Achampong-Kyei, was aimed at supporting the government to provide education to the disabled children at the school.

"There is no better way to celebrate my birthday than to spend time with the children who despite their challenges are making efforts to study to become responsible people in society," he stated.

Such schools, he said, must be supported in order to impact on the lives of the hundreds of special children currently at the school.

He urged the school to manage the items which included, rice, sugar, oil, noodles, spaghetti, biscuits, drinks and other provisions, to last for a long time as they look forward to assistance from other corporate bodies and individuals.

Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr Fred Tetteh, expressed appreciation to the Glico boss for coming over to donate items and spend time with the children, adding "This is the first time we are receiving such a donation since school reopened in February and the kids are very excited to receive such gesture."

"Our mandate is to help the special children acquire education and such donations which compliment government's effort would go a long way to help us give our best to the children," he stressed.

The government alone, he said could not fund the school and therefore called on corporate bodies to come to their aid.
