South Africa: Butterworth Police Investigating Double Murder

Butterworth Police are investigating a case of double murder. It is alleged that community members of Skiet Informal Settlement in Butterworth assaulted two people to death on Wednesday, 03 July 2019 at about 09:30. The two men were suspected of robbery at Butterworth Town in the early hours of Wednesday, 03 July 2019. Both deceased were severely assaulted. The deceased men were not identified.

Butterworth Cluster Commander Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu condemned the actions of the community who took the law into their own hands as Butterworth Police had recently hosted a crime awareness campaign at Skiet Informal Settlement warning the community not to take law into their own hands. No one has been arrested yet.
