Angola: Bridge Over Luvo River On Brink of Collapse

Saurimo — The metal bridge over the Luvo River in Mona Quimbundo commune, 56 kilometers off Saurimo city, Luanda Sul province, is on the brink of collapsing due to its advanced state of degradation.

The infrastructure, which is 40 meters long and 12 wide, was built 30 years ago and has cracks on almost all sides of its crosspiece.

Some pillars supporting the bridge are also in an advanced state of degradation, jeopardizing the free movement of people and goods.

The metal bridge deserved last Wednesday a visit by the provincial governor of Lunda Sul, Daniel Neto.
