Zambia: Syndicate Hogging Major Construction Sub-Contracts On the Copperbelt Riles Mwakalombe, Mulenga, Sampa

A scam has been unearthed in which a cartel of local contractors and suppliers is accused of hijacking the bulk of the mandatory 20 per cent allocation of construction contracts reserved for Zambians.

Copperbelt Provincial Minister Japhen Mwakalombe said yesterday he had information that any contractor who was not part of the alleged cartel - said to comprise only a few companies - was denied any business.
