South Africa: 37-Year-Old Siyathemba Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Murder

On Thursday, 26 September 2019 the Kathu High Court sentenced a 37-year-old man, Paulus Norman Herman to life imprisonment for stabbing his 43-year-old partner to death in January 2019.

It is alleged that the accused stabbed the deceased in front of her 8-year-old boy. It is not known as to whether there was an argument between the two.

It was further reported that after the incident, the accused fled the scene however he was later arrested by Siyathemba police on the outskirts of Kathu.

When handing down the sentence, the judge emphasized that the community must trust the court, feel safe, and never commit crime.

The Cluster Commander of JTG Cluster, Major General Johan Bean applauded investigating officer, Sergeant Gontekane Desmond Kgadiete for ensuring that justice was served through his excellent and meticulous investigation of the case.

The Cluster Commander further complimented the cooperation between the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Department of Justice and the police. Hence, the accused was removed from society. Working together and jointly as a team in cases of this nature can be the best strategy to ensure a complete crime free JTG area, said the General.
