Tonota — Tonota Football Club (TNT FC) and Serowe based Green Lovers played to a goalless draw during the Debswana First Division North game played at Tonota on Saturday.
Unlike a former premier league team, Green Lovers was vulnerable in the hands of TNT, who had an edge over the opponents, though they failed to convert scores, missing four scoring opportunities in the first and second leg of the game.
TNT's Keotswetse Onkemetse was denied a brilliant goal in the first minutes of the second half by the referee for being off-side.
Keotswetse and Donald Kennetseng combination was a marvel to watch though lady luck was not on their side as Green Lover's goal minder defied their efforts.
At some point in the second half, Olebogeng Modise of TNT FC missed an obvious goal from Phemelo Setlhatloso's cross, a feat that left coach Mosimanegape Kanono on his knees.
It was evident that it was not TNT's day as Kanono was disappointed once more when striker Keotswetse missed another chance, skipped a wide ball leaving TNT fans with an egg on their faces.
In an interview, Coach Kanono expressed disappointment over his side's failure to score despite playing classic football.
"They played according to my instructions, but missed the opportunity to hit the back of the net.
I think lack of confidence worked against my players."
He said the team did not use their usual players as it relied mostly on students, who are currently busy with their studies.
He however commended the boys for a good job well done.
Green Lovers Coach Othusitse 'Chips' Kootswele commended his boys for having contained TNT FC despite the absence of their key players, who are currently busy with examinations.
He said he was happy that the stand-ins managed to contain TNT, which proved to be a stronger side.
Kootswele explained that TNT FC could have scored three to four goals, but due to their strong backline, the opponents managed to prevent such opportunities.
Chips said if it was not for his players being engaged with their studies, they did not deserve to have drawn with TNT FC, citing poor ball possession against his boys.
Green Lovers have so far played three games, beating Calendar Stars 1-0 and drawing against Maun Terrors and TNT FC in the recent games.
They are due to take Great North Tigers (GNT) this coming weekend in Francistown, while TNT FC will lock horns with Eleven Angels still in Francistown.
TNT FC has two points after they played to a draw against Maun Terrors and lost two game against NICO United and Sankoyo Bush Bucks respectively.
