Nairobi — President Uhuru Kenyatta has flagged off the inaugural SGR train to Suswa in Naivasha, asking Kenyans to shun negative publicity about the project.
Speaking on Wednesday morning when he launched the Nairobi Express Way Construction from JKIA to Westlands, President Kenyatta said his government will remain focused on transforming the country.
"Those talking don't know where Kenya is going, we will not stop developing this country," he said.
The head of state was accompanied on the train to Suswa by dozens of senior Government officials among them Cabinet Secretaries.
This is the second phase of the Standard Gauge Railway, linking Naivasha to the port city of Mombasa.
It will cover a stretch of 120 kilometers cutting across Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru and Narok County's, with four passenger stations based in Ongata Rongai, Ngong, Mai Mahiu and Suswa.
With Wednesday's launch, the passengers and freight services will commence beginning Thursday, October 17.
