Eritrea: Election of Reconciliation Committees

Barentu — Election of reconciliation committees was conducted in 12 administrative areas in the Haikota sub zone.

According to report, the residents of each administrative area elected a 5-member reconciliation committee.

Speaking to Erina, the administrator of Haikota sub zone, Mr. Shekedin Saleh stated that the objective of the election was to help residents and villages resolve conflict in their nearby areas considering the traditions and norms of the society as well as alleviate the overwhelming number of users of judiciary institutions.

The newly elected committees of reconciliation on their part to expressed readiness to shoulder responsibility that is bestowed on them and diligently and justly serve the people that elected them.
