Nigeria: Gunmen Kidnap 2 in Fresh Attack in Abaji

18 October 2019

Armed men suspected to be kidnappers abducted two persons identified as Murtala Maji Nasara and Yusuf Ibrahim in Abaji town of the FCT.

A neighbour of one of the victims, simply identified as Yahaya, said the incident happened around 1:00am Thursday, in Abaji metropolis.

He said the gunmen came through a bush path and first invaded the house of Murtala where they forced the door open.

He said some of the gunmen surrounded the house while the others went in and whisked him away at gunpoint.

"Actually, they didn't shoot probably because the house of of the victim is just some few metres away from the police station," he said.

He said the gunmen proceeded to the next victim's house, Ibrahim, at senior staff quarters opposite a private school and kidnapped him.

According to him, the gunmen scaled the fence of the second victim's house and used a sledge hammer to force the door open and took him away.

Our reporter learnt that one of the victims, Yusuf, is a teacher at one of the primary schools in the area.

The chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, confirmed the latest kidnap of two persons over the phone when our reporter contacted him yesterday morning.

The spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, did not pick calls put across to him to comment on the issue.
