At the forum, set to close today (Tuesday), Angola participates with a delegation of the Public Electricity Production Company (PRODEL-EP).

PRODEL was invited to lecture on "Hydroelectric Potential and Existing Hydroelectric Power Plants in Angola", presented by Pedro Afonso, administrator for water production.

The event is an initiative of the Chincold and Spaincold Organization and brings together over 850 experts from various countries to exchange experience and information on dams.

Angola participates in this event as the 2nd Honorary member of the ICLOD - International Committee of Large Dams and the 5th in a group of six countries that ended 2018, the construction of large concrete-compacted roll-type dams, such as Laúca hydroelectric power plant, with an installed capacity of 2.070 MW.

In terms of roller dam construction, China tops the list, with five, Ethiopia, Thailand, Vietman, Angola and Myanmar, with one each.

As part of the VIII symposium, study visits are planned for participants to share experiences on hydroelectric power plants, such as Laúca and Capanda.

Angola has been a member of the International Committee of Large Dams (ICLOD) since June 2018.

One of the international requirements is the operability and technical status of dams and safety in relation to construction and their upstream and downstream impact.
