South Africa: Eight Suspects Arrested in Nyanga for Possession of an Imitation Firearm and Armed Robbery

Alert members attached to Nyanga SAPS arrested three suspects between 23 and 25 this morning for an armed robbery they committed on Saturday, 16 November 2019, in Sithathu Avenue in Nyanga. It is alleged that the complainant was on his way to work when he was approached by three unknown men. One of them was armed and they demanded his belongings and they rob him of his cellular telephone and an undisclosed amount of cash where after they fled the scene. Thorough investigation conducted by the members all three suspects were arrested and they are expected to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrate Court tomorrow on charges of armed robbery .

In an unrelated occurrence members attached to Nyanga SAPS were busy conducting crime prevention duties in Klipfontein Road, Nyanga when they spotted a doubtful vehicle occupied by for unknown men. Upon conducting a further search, the members found an imitation firearm hidden inside the vehicle. All five suspects aged 26, 27, 29, 30 and 32 were arrested and they are expected to make a court appearance in the Philippi Magistrate Court for possession of an imitation firearm.
