South Africa: Police Conduct Build-Up Crime Awareness Campaign On the Prevention of Stock Theft

The Station Commander of Tubatse, Brigadier Angy Maloma accompanied by the VISPOL Commander, Colonel Phetla and the Station Communication Officer, Constable Ngwana supported by the Provincial Commander of Media Relations, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, have today on 21 November 2019, conducted the build-up campaign towards the community outreach on the prevention of stock theft to be held in Sekhukhune on 10 December 2019.

The campaign was held at Tubatse Police Station hall outside Burgersfort and it was attended by various community structures including Badishi organization and members of the community in general.

During the process of this campaign, members of the community were empowered with the knowledge of the importance of livestock and identified factors that farmers must apply to protect their valuable livestock against thieves.

Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe shared the following tips with all attendees:

* Strengthening the partnership Policing and

* The establishment and effective participation of members of the community in the community based crime prevention initiatives such as the Community Police Forums, the streets committees, the Sector forums and the neighbourhood watch with the sole aim of fighting crime successfully.

Brigadier Maloma addressed members of the community about the following:


* Crime hints for a safer festive season and

* Stokvel club members were advised not to withdraw large cash amounts for distribution but to rather request banks of their choice to assist them with electronic banking transactions in order to avoid being victims of robberies.

Members of the Community were given the opportunity to raise concerns and ask questions which were properly attended to.

Colonel Ngoepe attended to some of the questions and he encouraged members of the community to come and attend the community outreach program on the prevention of stock theft to be held as mentioned above.

The telephone numbers of the Cluster Commander, Station Commander, Cluster Stations and Community Service Centres (CSC) were also disseminated among all attendees.
