Botswana: Pipeline Construction Commences April

Gaborone — Parliament has been informed that construction of the Gamononyane pump station-Molepolole NSC connection pipeline will commence in April 2020.

Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila said the project, which was expected to take two years, would supply potable water to Molepolole, Thebephatshwa and Mmanoko cluster which was made up of Mmanoko, Gamodubu and Gakgatla. He said the Gamononyane-Molepolole water pipeline project was part of the Mmamashia Kanye North-South Carrier project.He said the designs for the project were completed while the project was currently at documentation stage. He said it was expected to be gazetted by end of December 2019 followed by three months of tender floating until March 2020.

Minister Mzwinila explained that bids evaluation was expected to take one month with a possible award by April 2020. Molepolole North MP, Mr Oabile Regoeng had asked the minister to state when the construction of the water pipeline from Gamononyane water plant to Molepolole was expected to commence and how long would it take to complete.
