South Africa: Murder and Kidnapping Suspect/s Sought

OR Tambo District police are looking for anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect/s that stabbed and killed a 72-year-old woman and kidnapped her two grandchildren aged between 4 and 5 years, at Mcuku locality Nyandeni A/A in Libode on Saturday evening, 14 December 2019.

It is alleged that the body of the old lady was seen lying on a mattress outside her room with multiple stab wounds and a knife blade next to her body. Police were alerted and upon investigating the scene, children's clothing was found with both children missing. An intensive search by police and the community was conducted around the locality and the bushes.

The motive for the killing of the old woman is not known and no arrest has been made as yet. Anyone with information may contact D/Sergt Mnukwa on 0714751847 or may dial *134*10111# to connect to the MySAPS App and your name will remain anonymous.

The District Commissioner, Major General David Kanuka condemned and discouraged these acts and said, "The SAPS has an obligation to protect women and children and the Government is loud about Gender Based Violence. We will hunt these suspects and bring them to book. Together with the community we all should protect the vulnerable ones."
