Namibia: Man Caught With Drugs Worth N$20 000 At Mariental Roadblock

A 29-year-old man was on Friday arrested at the Mariental roadblock for allegedly possessing dependence-producing substances.

The Namibian Police's Acting Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Hardap Region, Detective Chief Inspector Simon Hauwanga, told Nampa on Sunday that the incident occurred at 23h00 on Friday.

"It is alleged that the suspect was found with seven full parcels of pure cannabis weighing 1 775 grams with a street value of N$17 550, and 20 tablets alleged to be mandrax with a street value of N$2 400, with the intention of dealing in drugs," Hauwanga said.

The suspect was arrested and is set to appear in the Mariental Magistrate's Court today.

He is being held at the Mariental Police Station holding cells.
