South Africa: Eight Illegal Miners' Bodies Found Underground - Welkom

On the 09 November 2019 at about 14:10 mine management at Eland shaft in Welkom informed the police about eight bodies found underground. They were all wrapped in a plastic bag. One of the plastic with a body inside was written unknown, which was in a decomposed state.

The other seven bodies were identified and claimed by relatives. A case of Inquest was registered. Thus far nobody has come forward to claim the remaining body which is at Welkom Pathology and Forensic Services.

A case if inquest has been registered for further investigation.
