Cote d'Ivoire: Meet Ivorian Student O'plerou Grebet the Creator of Culturally Relevant West African Emojis

Over the past two years, Ivorian student O'Plerou Grebet has designed over 350 emojis that celebrate African culture, history and contemporary life. He incorporated all his emojis from his project into an app called 'Zouzoukwa', so that Africans can use emojis 'that correspond to their realities'.

After learning how to create emojis through YouTube tutorials in 2017, O'Plerou Grebet an Ivorian digital artist and art student at the Institute of Sciences and Communication Techniques in Abidjan, dedicated everyday of 2018 to creating and posting a new culturally relevant emoji.
