Angola: Mining Code Enhances Sector - Official

Saurimo — The entry into force of the Mining Code in the country has given greater credibility to the mineral resources sector, safeguarding the fiscal aspects and improving the management of mining resources, said the Secretary of State for Geology and Mining, Jânio da Rosa Corrêa Victor in Saurimo (Lunda Sul),

The official, who was speaking to the press at the end of a working visit to the province of Lunda Sul, underlined that the Mining Code will allow the creation of an attractive and competitive environment, which is crucial for development of the national economy.

He recalled that the sector's restructuring measures, which have been underway since 2018, will enable the country to have sovereignty over business in the minerals market.

During his 12-hour visit to the province, the government official visited the Diamond Development hub of Saurimo, Geology Institute of Angola and the diamond formation, evaluation and polishing center.

The secretary was accompanied by the CEOs of Endiama Ganga Júnior, Sodiam Bravo Rosa, Geological Institute of Angola Canga Xiaquivuila, provincial governor Daniel Neto, among other entities.
