Namibia: National Cross Country Champs in Okahandja

THE Namibia National Cross Country Championships will be held at the Okahandja Horse Racing Turf on Saturday, 1 February.

Athletes from all 14 regions of Namibia have been invited to participate in the championships which will include various age group categories and distances.

The action starts at 08h30 with the u20 women's race over 6km, to be followed by the u20 men's category over 8km.

At 10h00 the Primary schools girls and boys races over 2km take place, to be followed by the u18 women's race over 4km and the u18 men's race over 6km.

The senior women's race over 10km starts at 12h00 to be followed by the senior men's race over 10km an hour later.

The final event of the day is the mixed relay over 8km, with teams consisting of two male and two female athletes.

The championships will serve as national trials to select a Namibian team that will compete at the African Cross Country Championships in Lome, Togo on 8 April, funds permitting.
