Jwaneng — Jwaneng Galaxy football club have officially parted ways with their coach, Miguel Da Costa.
In an interview after the team's late afternoon meeting on Monday (Febtuary 17), Galaxy spokesperson, Tankiso Morake confirmed that the decision was infact taken on Sunday evening.
He said that in the meantime Oris Radipotsane would be the caretaker coach, assisted by the whole technical bench. "We haven't singled out anyone from the technical bench to be his assistant, but the whole bench will assist," he said.
Da Costa has been with Galaxy for about a year and a half. Meanwhile Galaxy supporters held a parallel meeting the same afternoon, and many speakers at the meeting indicated their displeasure with the decision of the board.
The supporters felt that if anything, the whole technical bench should be shown the door instead of singling out the coach. They also felt that Radipotsane was the main problem as the team started doing badly after his arrival. "Galaxy has so far lost three times and all these loses came after Radipotsane's arrival. Before that, our loss was a draw," one supporter said.
They also felt that Da Costa had not yet lost the race for the league championship, looking at the gap between Galaxy and the top teams, and wondered if he was fired because of elimination from the Mascop Top 8 Cup instead. END
