South Africa: Two Suspects Arrested for Possession of Dagga Worth R28 700 in Bishop Lavis

On Sunday evening, 22 March 2020, members of Maitland Flying Squad pulled over a vehicle in Borchards Quarry Road, Bishop Lavis, that had passed them at a high speed. Members found two big bags of dagga in the vehicle. Two suspects in their thirties were arrested on a case of possession of dagga. The estimated street value of the dagga is approximately R 28 700. The suspects will appear in Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court today, 24 March 2020 on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter, on Sunday, 22 March 2020, Table View police were busy with a vehicle check point operation in Malibongwe Drive in Table View. At approximately 23:30, the officers noticed the occupants of one vehicle approaching the check point behaving suspiciously, and instructed the driver of the vehicle to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle stopped and the officers approached with caution. The three occupants jumped out of the vehicle and started to run in different directions where after one of the three men was caught and brought in for questioning.
