Nigeria: Bauchi Governor's Brother Abducted

26 March 2020

Bauchi — Gunmen yesterday kidnapped the elder brother of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, who confirmed the incident, said Duguri was kidnapped at the Kobi Street.

Gidado said the abductors had not contacted the family.

He said security operatives were alerted for prompt action.

A friend of the captive said the incident happened around 7pm, narrating that "We were discussing when four armed men entered the shop, ordered Duguri forcefully into their vehicle before they whisked him away and fired several shots in the air to scare people."

All efforts to get a reaction from the state police command were unsuccessful.
