South Africa: Garages Warned of Petrol Thief - Port Elizabeth

Police in Port Elizabeth are warning garage owners/attendants to be on the lookout for a gold coloured VW Jetta who is refuelling and not paying the bill.

There are currently two cases reported at SAPS Humewood for the month of March 2020. In the first case, on 1 March 2020 at about 11:49, the driver filled petrol for the amount of R50-33 at the Engen garage in Govan Mbeki Avenue. He drove off without paying.

The second case was reported when on 5 March 2020 at about 06:00, the driver allegedly filled R250-00 petrol at the Caltex garage in Rink Street in central.

The vehicle is fitted with false plates. On both occasions he used different registrations numbers, JJP 793EC and JJP 795EC.
