Angola: COVID-19 - Over Akz 4 Bln Spent On Fighting Coronavirus

Luanda — Angola has spent so far 4.5 billion Kwanzas (equivalent to USD 9 million) on expenses related to the prevention and fighting against Covid-19, said Inter-ministerial Commission.

The Commission stated that the value should be added to the amount of committed expenses, i.e., payments in progress amounting to 14 billion kwanzas (corresponding to USD 29. 4 million).

On the other hand, the source put at 510.8 million the value donated by individuals, business organisations, foreign Embassies in Angola, churches, NGOs and others.

Several companies and banks decided to offer equipment, biosafety material and other means.

The Inter-ministerial Commission also confirmed direct payments made to the foreign suppliers for the purchase of equipment.

These acquisitions stands at 6.2 million dollars.

The Commission states that, in this last package, there is also an order for assistance by a bank with national capital, worth 772.285 Euros.

In addition to the cash amounts, the Inter-ministerial Commission for Preventing and Combating Covid-19 also received generous amounts of food, sprayers, plastic water tanks, cleaning and disinfection material, such as detergents and vehicles.

The move is part of solidarity unleashed across the country, indicating greater adherence in the coming days.
