South Africa: Suspect Arrested and Illicit Cigarettes Confiscated

A 27-year-old suspect was arrested this afternoon, for trading in illicit cigarettes. The arrest was effected during an operation that was conducted in the Lephalale CBD.

The police received information about the presence of illicit cigarettes that were being sold in one of the shops some few blocks from the police station. On arrival at the said shop, illicit cigarettes to the estimated value of R750 000.00 were found packed in the storeroom and were confiscated.

The suspect will appear in Lephalale Magistrates' court tomorrow, Tuesday, 07 April 2020.
