Botswana: Kweneng Issues Over 3 000 Travel Permits

Molepolole — Kweneng District commissioner, Ms Bernice Mosime, says over 3 300 COVID-19 travel permits have been issued in the district.

Ms Mosime was giving an update to the media today. She said permits for essential workers increased the number of permits issued.

Ms Mosime explained that because many of them commuted from Gaborone and surrounding areas, movement restrictions were a challenge especially that public transport was unavailable.

Meanwhile, Bakwena kgosikgolo, Kgosi Kgari Sechele III said non-compliance compelled them to disperse people who sought permits, particularly those who wanted to undertake unnecessary travel.

He urged Bakwena to stay home and comply with extreme social distancing regulations.
