Angola: Lunda Sul - Governor Calls for Reinforcement of Medicines

Saurimo — The governor of eastern Lunda Sul province Daniel Neto Friday asked the Health Ministry to reinforce drugs for the provincial hospitals, through the Center for Grouped Medicines Purchases (CECOMA), in order to improve assistance to patients in various health units.

The request was made on the sidelines of the working visit of the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, who delivered the biosafety material under the prevention and combat of Covid-19 pandemic.

He explained that the available medicines do not cover the needs of the province's 649, 133 inhabitants.

He explained that the provincial government outlined a plan that aims to provide drugs to inpatients and outpatients, thereby avoiding the purchase of medicines in private pharmacies.

But the limited quantities have made it difficult to strictly comply with this programme.

Daniel Neto also informed that the province is struggling with the problem of the X-ray machine, delivered by the Ministry of Health, adding that some components lack for the exams.

The province has 112 health units, classified in hospitals, medical centers and health posts.
