Luanda — The presidential decree of public calamity allows sports activities from June 27 onward, after being held up on March 23 due to coronavirus (Covid-19).

Angola to reopen sports activities in June
Officially Published last Monday, in Luanda, by the minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, after maintaining the State of Emergency three times, the document instructs actions behind closed doors.
The rules of biosafety and physical distance (at least one and a half metres) must be observed. The presence of spectators in sports competitions and training is subject to specific regulations, approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
As regards collective sports activity of recreation and leisure, under the new circumstance they are to resume as from July 13, in open spaces and with physical distancing.
Following the sports activities suspension, in March, some sports federations ended up cancelling their championships, highlighting the national events of football and basketball.
In both cases, the competition had Petro de Luanda and 1° de Agosto as the main well placed teams running for the trophy.
Meanwhile, the latest official update shows that Angola has 73 covid-19 positive cases, 45 of which were local transmission, with 4 deaths, 18 recovered, 51 active and one case that requires special attention.
