Angola: COVID-19 - Angola Closer to Community Infection

Luanda — Angola is 57 cases from declaring the existence of community infection, in terms of contamination by covid-19, as the number of cases without known epidemiological link increases.

This was said Wednesday by the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, stating that the country has 43 cases with unknown links, which still constitute local contamination.

The official, who was speaking at daily update briefing, said that 100 cases were necessary to declare community infection, based on the criteria of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Mufinda explained that the Angolan Health authorities have regularly provided data on cases with unknown links, to show the society how closer the country is to community infection.
