Nigeria: Benue LG Boss Vows to Restore Council's Glory

Makurdi — The Chairman of Vandekiya Local Government Area in Benue State, Kukase Tyoer-Garba has vowed to restore the lost glory of the council by ensuring impactful leadership in the lives of the electorate.

Garba spoke when she swore into office the Deputy Chairman and Council Secretary as well as 12 elected councillors of all the wards.

She said her recent emergence as chairman of the council would herald a new era where every citizen of the local government would benefit from democratic dividends.

The chairman, who thanked people of the area for electing her and others to serve in various capacities, called for unity on the part of members of her administration and the people in order for them to actualise the common goal.

She urged the new councillors to see themselves as servant leaders who have been elected by the people and would be answerable to them.

Earlier, the Clerk of the LG House, Mrs. Jessica Anongo, administered the oath of office on the new officers.

Benue/Plateau Trust reports the swearing-in was immediately followed with the election of principal officers to head the legislative arm.
