Sudan: Pilot Launched of the Sudan Families Support Project

Khartoum — Yesterday, the pilot phase of the Sudanese Families Support project was launched by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labour and Social Development. The first poor families living in Soba West in Khartoum received their monthly support of SDG 3,000*. An estimated 9.6 million people in Sudan are experiencing acute food insecurity.

In a joint statement, the two ministries say that this "direct cash support" project for Sudanese families is funded by the government and a number of partners, with technical support from the World Food Programme and the World Bank.
