Botswana: Maun Police Apprehend Hit and Run Suspect

Maun — Maun Police have apprehended a 30-year-old man in connection with a road accident that resulted in the death of two children at Gxabara ward in Maun recently.

Maun Station Commander Superintendent Chenamo Orateng said in an interview that the suspect's car was spotted at Gxhabara ward on July 2 and the suspect was brought to the police station by his relatives on July 4.

The suspect is alleged to have been involved in a road accident that led to the death of eight-year old and 18-months siblings at Gxhabara ward on July 1.

Mwanwhile, Supt Orateng said the police were investigating an incident in which a 31-year-old woman sustained an injury on the shoulder after being shot with a shot gun by her boyfriend at Matsaudi village following a misunderstanding.

Supt Orateng said after shooting, the two were alleged to have fought for the gun which the woman ultimately took control of.

He said the man is reported to have then ran away and was later found hanging from a tree near the woman's homestead.
