As of July 8, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 55 African countries have reached 507,930.
Reported deaths in Africa have reached 11,977 and recoveries 244,815.
South Africa has the most reported cases – 205,721, with deaths numbering 3,310. Other most-affected countries include Egypt (76,222 cases), Nigeria (29,286), Algeria (16,404), and Ghana 21,077).
The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
