As of July 9, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 55 African countries have reached 522,641.
Reported deaths in Africa have reached 11,978 and recoveries 243,817.
South Africa has the most reported cases – 224,665, with deaths numbering 3,502. Other most-affected countries include Egypt (78,304 cases), Nigeria (30,249), Algeria (17,348), and Ghana 22,822).
The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
