Kenya: Man Pleads Guilty to Possessing Marijuana

A young man stunned a Maua magistrate's court after he pleaded guilty to possessing bhang and threatening to attack his neighbour with a panga.

Timothy Mukaria also admitted to Senior Resident Magistrate Andrew Munene that he is a bhang smoker and the three rolls presented din court belong to him.

He also pleaded guilty to maliciously destroying three window panes belonging to Jackson M'Muuniu valued at Sh1,000 on July 3.

Mukaria was charged with creating disturbance and breaching peace in Kumari village following a dispute with M'Muuniu.

State Counsel Catherine Gakii said she would read the particulars of the case on July 13, 2020 to help guide the court in sentencing.

In the same court, a mother of two denied threatening to stab her landlord with a knife over tenancy row.

Purity Mwendwa, who was accompanied by her two children aged below five years, denied creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, by threatening to stab one Sameria Acii.

She also denied insulting the landlord at Kachuru market, Igembe North and was released on a Sh10,000 bond.

The magistrate ordered that the case be mentioned on August 6 for fixing of hearing date.
