Tunis/Tunisia — Five Tunisian irregular migrants were rescued by the national Navy 40 nautical miles east of Monastir while they were en route to the Italian coast in an inflatable boat almost sinking.

They are aged between 20 and 34 years old, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence.

When questioned, they confessed to having set sail on July 7 from the coast of Sousse.

They were all handed over to the Monastir National Guard units to take the necessary measures against them, the press release reads.
