Africa: COVID-19 Cases Across Continent Surpass 559,000, With 12,769 Deaths

As of July 11, confirmed the COVID-19 case total from 55 African countries has reached 559,446.

Reported deaths in Africa have reached 12,769 and recoveries 271,826.

South Africa has the most reported cases – 250,687, with deaths numbering 3860. Other most-affected countries include Egypt (80,235 cases), Nigeria (31,323), Algeria (18,242), and Ghana 23,834).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
