Luanda — The Ministry of Energy and Water (Minea) Saturday in Luanda announced that on June 30th the ownership and operation of the Lomaum hydroelectric projects in Benguela province and the Mabubas in Bengo were returned to the public sphere.

In a press release received by Angop, Minea clarifies that the act of return was concluded on 30 June 2020, through the signing of a delivery note in favour of the Electricity Production Company PRODEL-EP.

The undertakings in question were granted for concession by means of resolutions 108 and 109/09, of the Council of Ministers of 23 November 2009, in favour of the company Kanazuro Electric, S.A.

Through this concession, the company was granted the rights to rehabilitate, exploit and expand the two ventures, for a period of 20 years.

Under the interministerial committee for the recovery of undertakings built with public funds, the said concessions were rolled over and, subsequently, the Company Kanazuro Electric, S.A. was required to return them to the State.
